New Athletics Crest 2020

When a branding identity has been established and follows its own rules, new creations, such as this new athletics crest, are mere variations on a theme: people see it's new, but it's right away identified with the existing branding.
This new crest is a touch softer.

Visual Identity Refresh

Aside from teaching full-time, it was a blessing to be able to give significant shape to the branding direction of the school. I was especially happy with the refreshed visual identity I was able to create in my last year.
The design of the refresh started with a yearbook cover (left) and rippled out from there (below). It captures both the Islamic and the Arabic aspects of this faith-based school in a modern way.
This refresh rested on the initial work of a colleague, Peder Vinge. Previously, the house style of EIA was quite significantly stuck in the early 2000s, both in print and web. Peder's improvements to the brand in 2015 provided a rich starting point in the tapestry of a new visual identity--enough for me to continue weaving with in 2018.
Brand recognition is important and a refresh does well when it borrows a few things from the existing brand, helping the audience still feel at home, while noticing that the decor received a significant upgrade.
